Internet Telephony Service Providers (ITSP)

Providing telephone service directly to End-Users: the service competes with traditional phone services of Belgacom. For ISPs and DSL providers this is a market opportunity to sell more services to their existing customer base.

Voice is a key DSL application

Voice over DSL (VoDSL) is rapidly becoming a key DSL application. Existing phones are plugged into a phone adapter (interface boxes that connect ordinary telephones to broadband Internet connections) and then into a broadband modem (for example the Cisco ATA192). Residential customers get their own phone number or can keep the existing number (number portability). On-net call (calls between locations connected to VoIP switch can be free of charge, off-net calls are delivered to the PSTN networks with Least Cost Routing (LCR) functionality.
